This page is currently out of date. JIPP is on a publishing hiatus, pending hiring of a new Editor-in-Chief.

Submissions

We accept two types of submissions at all times

  • Finished Works

Completed works, previously published or unpublished, in an field of policy are welcome to be submitted for publication in the journal.

  • Works in Progress

We encourage interested writers + artists to submit their idea/”pitch” to the journal so that we can work with you throughout the writing process. Working with the JIPP team throughout the process often increases the chance of publication!

Our main categories of publication are:

  • ESSAY

    • These are longer compositions (1500+ words) and should maintain a rigorous standard of evidence usage. Such works will often, but not always, argue for or against a certain policy, critique certain ways of thinking, or report on the literature.

  • COMMENTARY

    • These are more informal submissions and are smaller in scope than essays. They are quite similar to newspaper articles or op-eds, and may often be published on our blog as well.

  • ART + POETRY

    • This category is for all forms of art and poetry that relate to policy issues. We allow for full creative freedom in these works.

Before submitting, consult our Style Guide for details on formatting and style. If you like working on policy issues, join the team to collaborate more closely with JIPP.

We are not currently accepting any issue-specific publications, but welcome to solicitations and works to be published directly to the blog.

Current Issues

JIPP 3(1) will be on America’s Role in an Evolving World Order. Please submit manuscripts, art, or poetry here (completed) or here (solicitation).

Upcoming Issues

Upcoming regular issues are expected to include Immigration, Economic Policy, and others. In addition, we publish issues that aren't restricted to one specific theme. Please feel free to submit solicitations for these topics.

We look forward to including a diverse range of Public Policy issues and perspectives and encourage you to submit any work related to current political issues! If you enjoyed contributing to JIPP, we are sure to have a role that fits your interests — learn more about joining the team.
